Burdock Root

Description

Burdock root (Arctium lappa) is also known as bardana. Burdock root is a diuretic, blood cleanser, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antifungus, anticancer, antiviral, and antibacterial herb. Many of burdock root’s medicinal properties are attributed to its wide array of chemical compounds, which include inulin, mucilage, essential oil, volatile oil, alkaloids, glycosides, resin, and tannins. Burdock has been used in traditional medicine to treat skin conditions such as eczema, acne, and psoriasis, because it promotes the removal of toxins from the skin. It is also a diuretic used promote urination to stimulate kidney function and repair. A primary use of burdock root is as a blood purifier and liver tonic to restore liver function and health.
